UXM Rolling Release?

A friend in the industry told us that UXM is going to have a rolling release schedule and that as far as he knows, it starts with the set-up boxes, which he'll be getting in to his store this week.

This is the same fellow who helped us with those spoiler pics from the Alliance dealer demos, so it's fair to say that he's credible.

Apparently, something new will be coming each week all the way up until the wide release, so start checking with your FLGS. UXM Dice Masters items may begin flowing soon! Your mileage may vary depending on what your store has ordered.

Mistakes Part Two: The Learning Continues

So, picking up from last time, I was prepared for the Month Two OP.

I mentioned before, that comics were my gateway in to Dice Masters, not gaming in general. The Avengers vs X-Men series that the first set is loosely based on was a pretty decent comic book event, all things considered. The effects and fallout of what transpired are still being felt and brought up today. Two of my favorite comic book characters, Spider-Man and Cyclops, were both in this event. While Cyclops was center stage, Spider-Man was mostly in the background… until issue #9 of the event. The cover had a great image of Spider-Man. He was bloody and battered, his costume was ripped and torn, but he still looked heroic; poised for action. Issue #9 featured Spider-Man taking on two immensely strong opponents by himself to buy time for his other teammates. He got the snot kicked out of him, but he survived, and successfully bought his team the much needed time. So, that image of Spider-Man, from the cover of Avengers vs X-Men #9, is regarded pretty highly in my mind. A very cool character moment in the comic, represented by a great cover.

Podcast 20: The New Meta

In this episode, Dave and Evan have a stranger in their midst, who fills the guys in on her exploits. Then, we look at some of the recent rules modifications that have come out. Finally, we discuss the cards that have been spoiled that we think will have a strong impact on the meta moving forward.

OP Month Three Contest: Deflecting Prizes Your Way

It's that time again!  Once again, I hadn't been able to get my hands on the same cache of OP rewards as I did for Month One, so the contest will again be for the Month Three basic action: Deflection.

Okay, maybe not the most exciting basic action, but surely it's nice to have the set?  And complete your set you can...if you're one of our four lucky winners.

Mistakes... And Learning From Them

I know a lot you come to The Reserve Pool to read up on news about upcoming sets, card reveals, and podcasts. You won't get any of that from me. Today, you get to read about my mistakes in Dice Masters strategy, and how I'm still losing learning from them. For a little background of who I am, you can read my introduction here.

Within days of purchasing my starter set, I was buying up booster packs at my local comic shop. I was asking around to different shops in the area if anyone planned on having any tournaments. I would get on the Wizkids Event System website, and search for events within 100 miles of me. Finally, I found one. Unfortunately it was about 80 miles away. Now, don’t get me wrong, I enjoy Dice Masters, but I wasn’t going to drive 80 miles to play in a tournament. I wasn’t THAT obsessed with this game.

Enter: my 13 year old brother. We are 14 years apart, but we still try to hang out and stay interested in the same things. We will play video games, go to a movie, watch wrestling, and now we also play Dice Masters. The more I thought about driving 80 miles as bonding with my brother, and less about how obsessed of a gamer it would make me, I warmed up to it.

A Short Review of... Everything(ish)

Holy information, Batman! Over the last several days, WizKids has been leaking information - full
common/uncommon/rare sets of cards - to all of us.

Now that we're getting into the teens as far as number of characters, it's a good idea to give these a look. Evan recently got started with some thoughts, but now we have even more since then.

So, here are some quick hit reviews of what we see - trust me, the in-depth stuff is coming when we can put it into the context of, well, everything.

Lots of Uncanny Stuff!

While you're waiting for the podcast to come up, Hunter from Weaponsgrade managed to get his hands on a copy of the Uncanny X-Men starter set as well as a booster box and did an unboxing and review. We're licking our chops looking at these characters and dice! We've embedded the videos after the jump.

Randy's Introduction

Hey, thanks for the warm welcome. “Obsessed” might be a little strong, but this game does have me hooked like nothing I’ve played before. I was in to both Magic and Heroclix when I was younger, but never played them competitively. I mean, I made my own custom playmat…

 …but not obsessed.

Welcome, Randy!

We're pleased to welcome Randy to our crew here at TRP. Randy comes in having done comic-related reviews in the past and, to hear him tell it, is "obsessed" with this game.

Randy has been an entrant in both of our contests so far - in fact, he was the one who submitted the King James card in the most recent one. This implies some ties to Cleveland on his part, but don't worry - we're cool. Welcome aboard!

Uncanny X-Men Spoilers: First Impressions

Greetings, dicefans!  Not content with the big old pile of Dice Masters news over the last week or so, WizKids has also started to give us spoilers for Uncanny X-Men.  So far, they've given us the full set of cards for eight characters - Apocalypse, Bishop, Cable, Emma Frost, Magik, Mister Sinister, Marvel Girl, and Namor, and as you might have gathered from yesterday's podcast, I'm pretty excited about what I'm seeing.

So excited, in fact, that I just can't hide it - or help myself from giving some first impressions.

News: Today and other days

Some new spoilers have come out today.

You may have seen some of them on Facebook, but that's not what I'm talking about. That's newsworthy, but this is about the future! No, I'm talking about a friend of the blog who asked to be credited as Superdan567 about MANY upcoming cards and sets. Some of it involves things that we knew were coming, but now we have more concrete information about it.

Here we go.

Podcast coming Thursday AM/Midday

Usually I drop it around midnight, but due to some technical issues as well as some health issues, I'll be delaying it until sometime around tomorrow AM/Midday. Sorry, folks! Just haven't had the chance to put the time into it that is needed, and feeling ill doesn't help.
